It’s official – we’re PEFC certified!

We’re proud to share that the use of sustainably sourced materials in our nappies has been certified by PEFC.
The Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (try saying that fast!) is the world’s leading forest certification system, which plays a critical role in protecting forests around the world through promoting sustainable forest management.
This certification ensures that forest-based products have been sourced from a sustainably managed area. This means that everyone – including our little ones – can enjoy our natural environment for many more years to come!
By gaining the PEFC tick of approval across our Cosifit™ Nappies, Nappy Pants and SleepyNights Pants, we’re taking another step on our journey towards a more sustainable future.
But wait… what do nappies have to do with forests?
We’ve been using sustainably sourced materials in our *nappies since 2014 and this year, we have been officially recognised as using sustainability sourced, PEFC certified wood pulp. The padding inside BabyLove nappies is made from a mixture of wood pulp and a super absorbent polymer known as polyacrylate. Together, these elements help to provide the advanced leakage protection and absorbency you know and trust.
Why is PEFC certification important?
Our forests have enormous environmental, economic and social value and we believe it’s important to play our part in looking after them.
By pledging our commitment to providing high quality and PEFC certified products, we are supporting the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification to ensure that we can all benefit from the many products that forests provide now, while ensuring these forests will be around for generations to come.
What does it take to be PEFC certified?
All good things take time and PEFC certification is no exception. In fact, it’s something that we at BabyLove have been working on for a long time.
As a product manufacturer, PEFC chain of custody certification requires us to develop and implement procedures to first verify that sourced materials are PEFC certified, followed by periodic reviews and audits to make sure our operations remain up to scratch.
While it may sound like a lot of checks and balances, these processes are all necessary to ensure that PEFC standards are maintained. Effectively protecting our forests, locally and globally is something that continues to be important to us, so watch this space for more updates! In the meantime, if you’re interested to find out more about how our products can be recycled, head on over to our blog article all about the brilliant RedCycle initiative.
Next time you’re stocking up on BabyLove nappies or browsing the supermarket aisles, keep an eye out for the PEFC label to see how you can shop more sustainably.
